How Much Does It Cost to Climb Mount Kenya?

A transparent breakdown of Mount Kenya climbing costs — from park fees to crew tips — with real USD prices for every route.

The cost to climb Mount Kenya depends on the route, the number of days and the level of comfort. Here is what you actually pay.

Our Mount Kenya treks start from $963 USD for the 3-day Sirimon route, up to $1,217 USD for the 5-day Chogoria route, and $2,687 USD for the 6-day Batian technical climb. These are all-inclusive: park fees, guide, cook, porters, meals, tents and transfers from Nairobi.

What drives the price? Kenya Wildlife Service park fees are the largest single cost, followed by crew wages (we pay our porters and guides above the union minimum). Longer routes cost more because they need more food, more porters and more park days.

On top of the package price, budget around $82–118 USD for crew tips and make sure you have travel insurance that covers high-altitude trekking. Personal gear — boots, layers, sleeping bag — you can rent from us if you don't have your own.

Compared to Kilimanjaro, Mount Kenya is noticeably more affordable. A comparable 4-day Mount Kenya climb is roughly half the cost of a 6-day Kilimanjaro climb, mostly because Tanzanian park fees are higher.
