Day-by-day itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Nairobi – Nanyuki – Sirimon Gate – Old Moses Camp (3,300m)

    Depart Nairobi in the morning and drive to Nanyuki, the gateway town for Mount Kenya tours. Proceed to Sirimon Gate (2,650m) and begin your trek through forest into moorland. Distance: 9km Duration: 3–4 hours Overnight at Old Moses Camp.

  2. Day 2

    Old Moses Camp – Shipton Camp (4,200m)

    Trek through Ontulili River and Mackinders Valley with stunning views of the peaks. Distance: 14km Duration: 6–7 hours Overnight at Shipton Camp.

  3. Day 3

    Acclimatization Day – Shipton Camp (4,200m)

    Spend the day acclimatizing with a short hike to higher altitude (e.g. Hausberg Col ~4,600m) before returning to camp.  This improves your summit success rate significantly Overnight at Shipton Camp.

  4. Day 4

    Shipton Camp – Point Lenana – Old Moses Camp

    Start your summit attempt at 3AM and hike to Point Lenana (4,985m), reaching the summit at sunrise. After descent: Return to Shipton Camp for breakfast Continue to Old Moses Camp Duration: 9–10 hours Distance: 21km  The most challenging and rewarding day of the climb.

  5. Day 5

    Old Moses Camp – Sirimon Gate – Nairobi

    Descend through rainforest to Sirimon Gate and transfer back to Nairobi via Nanyuki. Duration: 2–3 hours
